Vigna Pezza la Corte
our aglianico cru has its name historically rooted to an old custom from the 19th Century when land left as a legacy to the children of the deceased was divided into long and narrow strips.
Pezza (piece) indicates the plot of land that was divided and Corte (short), describes a somewhat distorted shape as it is so short. This vineyard, a small exception to the rule as it is almost a square in measurement, extends for 1 hectar, 200mt above sea level and in soil that has a high level of active limestone soil. Pezza la Corte is found at the joining of 2 rivers nearby, “Fiume Calore” and “Torrente Alenta“ creating a fairly strong wind and resulting in a desirable microclimate.
